Seven Things to Think About When It Comes to . . . Realizing Your Gift

What is the thing that you do extremely well, without thinking or much effort? That “thing” that others struggle to accomplish but comes so naturally to you. In short, what is your gift? Here are seven (7) questions to help you discover your unique personal strengths that can help differentiate yourself from others in big ways.

1. What can you write, say, or create well? For me, it’s writing a darn good letter. However, what is that something for you?

2. How do you communicate with others? Are you able to help people see the positive in any situation, or do you perhaps have a way motivate others with words?

3. What role do you play on the professional/work “team?” Are you the ball boy/girl who helps the team by doing a simple but important task? Or are you the coach who creates the starting line up? Truth is, every team member is important and necessary to the overall group effort. Know your “lane” and where you excel.

4. Even if it’s just by your example, how do you encourage others to work or act? Do you have the ability to talk people into doing almost anything or are you someone who works independently and gets things done no matter the challenges? Think about how you work can positively affect others.

5. Take a few minutes to consider, are you a creator, inspirer, healer or protector? Now think how this core skill/interests can help lead you to your true professional calling or even your purpose.

6. Do you think and speak quickly on your feet or do you tend to listen and/or act more than you speak? Either can be a huge asset if you hone and cultivate your strength.

7. What do you believe in? Look at the people, places and things you are passionate about and how work on ways they can help you advance in your career.

This week ask yourself these and other questions to discover, clarify, or cultivate your skills, talents and true gifts!
